WELCOME!

We're Aster & Iris, a handmade jewelry and homeware company. After six years under the name Salt Ridge Co., we've made a name change! During these last few years, I've added new products and SR Co. didn't seem to fit my vision anymore. Aster & Iris are the birth flowers of my daughters and it spoke to my heart for this to be our new name.

WHERE IT ALL STARTED

Our small business originally started as a way to raise funds for our oldest daughter's adoption. I've always loved crafting and found a love for making bracelets and necklaces. In the beginning I also provided handmade and handlettered signs. While I hope to eventually bring this back into Aster & Iris, it's not something I am currently working on. With that said, I will always do commissioned pieces if you'd like me to make a custom sign for you.

After a year of beginning this venture and finalizing our adoption, I just couldn't stop! I was loving my side hustle and didn't want to give it up. We then started an LLC to make it official. After growing our family by two, nap times became my time to create. As I've continued to grow and learn for the past six years, taking product specific classes to grow my knowledge and hone my craft, I've truly found my niche and love for owning a small business.

I look forward to seeing where Aster & Iris goes for years to come. Thank you for being a part of this journey.

MEET THE OWNER

Hi! I'm Jen, owner and designer of Aster & Iris. I've been married to my husband, Casey, for ten years and we love adventuring together. Ever since we met, West Jefferson, in the NC Mountains, has been our home away from home. Fun fact: We met on eHarmony before it was popular to meet online. We were kinda nervous about telling people how we met when they asked. haha. Neither of us planned to meet our spouse that way, but that's the story God was writing.

I'm a mama to two little girls and I seek to love Jesus, albeit, imperfectly. Sola Gratia.

Simple, slow living has been a mindset for me for quite a while now. I find the more I slow down, the more calm and peace it brings. It also is a way for me to practice self-care. I know now more than ever how important it is to care for your mental health. It takes intentionality to carve out space for this and each day is a lesson in learning what fits our family's rhythms the best.

Finding new restaurants around town with my fam or relaxing in a local coffee shop with a good book, solo, make me really happy. Making matcha at home has become my new favorite and I try to start every morning with an organic matcha powder, local honey, and a splash of milk.

I've jumped back into reading after suddenly stopping once my journey of motherhood began five years ago. I would read here and there, but now I read daily. I love a good novel and didn't realize how much I missed reading until I started again. Kristin Hannah is currently my favorite author, and I love hearing what others are reading, too!

And of course, you can always find me making and creating. So, grab your favorite beverage and browse our online shop for a little retail therapy or to find the perfect gift for a friend. Don't forget to add your email to the homepage so you don't miss out on upcoming products and sales!

Thanks for stopping by. I'm so glad you're here.

OUR VISION

My vision for this business has always been for it to serve as an online boutique for you. A one-stop shop for every day items and gifts for those in your life. Instead of going straight to Amazon, choose to shop from a small and woman-owned business. When you purchase from Aster & Iris, you're not only supporting my family, you're getting handcrafted items made with an obsession to detail, products made with you in mind, and unique, thoughtful packaging that's wrapped with care. 7% of every purchase goes towards supporting women's mental health as well as post-partum depression support.
